Josh and Taren come to NYC!

One of the best things about living in NYC is how many visitors we get. This weekend we were lucky enough to have Taren and Josh came out. We had a great time. Josh had never been here before so we took him to all the big "must sees". I still can't believe how much we did in such a short amount of time. We won four front row lottery tickets to see Wicked which was unbelievable. I miss them already. We love you guys. Thanks so much for making the effort to come see us, it means a lot! xoxoxo

I did it!!!!!!! I made it through another crazy year of teaching. This year tops the charts of crazy years. Anyone that knows me has probably heard me say at some point that my dream is to work in the inner city schools of NYC. I wanted to be that "Dangerous Minds" teacher changing kids lives. Well, I guess I have to be careful what I wish for because this year my dream actually came true. Although most days are definitely not that glamorous, I have learned a TON this year. I have learned a lot about myself and I have pushed myself to new limits. Hooray for a successful year completed! Cheers to another crazy year to come.
Babe, I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for waking up with me EVERY morning at five o'clock. Thanks for walking me to the Subway EVERY morning. Thanks for being patient with how tired I have been. Thanks for drying my eyes on those HARD days. Thanks for NEVER letting me give up on my dreams. Again, I really couldn't have done it without you.

Herb Garden's 101

A couple of weeks ago we babysat our friend's herb garden and got a little attached so we trecked across New York to a Home Depot and bought the supplies for our own little garden. This should be good practice for future parenting. Hopefully our plants don't die.

Aren't dads the best? Robert and I have been blessed with exceptional dads. My dad is so funny and we just love being around him. John is so knowledgeable and gives us great advice. We love you guys and hope you have a fantastic Father's Day!

Random

The other night Robert and I were enjoying a evening in our front room. We kept hearing gun shots go off but then we noticed there was a random firework show over the Hudson. Very Romantic.

So we were walking in time square and I am about to cross the street when a big black SUV almost runs me over.... the back window was down and "the lady from Stepmom" is about 6 inches away from my face. I couldn't remember her name right away so I told Robert to take my camera, chase down the car and take a picture of "the lady from Stepmom". It turned out blurry but it was the thought that counts!!!! I later remembered her name and stopped referring to her as "the lady from Stepmom".

Like Lindsay Olives?

Sometimes when I tell people my name, they say "Lindsay.... like the olives?" I was clueless until I found Lindsay Olives at our grocery store. Robert insisted that we buy a can.

Field Trip Chaos

We took our 3rd graders on a field trip to the Bronx Zoo and it was exhausting. They were so excited that there was no hope of any order. We had fun riding the subway and watching the animals eat, sleep, and digest (sarcastic voice). Yay for field trips and YAY for 8 days left of school! What a year.

No words could describe how happy I am to be married to J. Robert W. Staples so I am not going to even try. Happy Anniversary Babe! And REMEMBER... I love you!

Nuclear Submarine and Aircraft Carriers

Robert was excited to find out that his student ID allowed him free entrance onto a Nuclear Submarine and Aircraft Carrier Museum on 47th street. He was like a little boy running around to all the planes and playing with all the gadgets. I will admit that the nuclear submarine was sweet. It was used during the cold war off the coast of the Soviet Union. They had nuclear weapons that were 10X stronger than the Atomic bomb aboard. The crew would stay on the sub for 2 months at a time without seeing daylight or showering. I had a instant respect for them after getting claustrophobic during the 15 minute tour.

WoW!

Amazingly enough all 7 of our high school friends, who live all over the country, were able to gather in NYC for a get away. From the minute the girls got here until the second they left....
WE HAD A BLAST! We forgot all our responsibilities and worries and enjoyed the moment.
We laughed until we cried.
We talked until the morning hours.
We ate until we were sick.
We shopped until we were poor.
We walked until our feet ached.
We soaked up NYC and each other until it was time to go.
I love my 6 best friends so much. They are beautiful, crazy, inspirational girls! You won't find a bunch like them. I miss you girls already!
